
Mathura is an authentic Indian vegetarian restaurant that serves a large clientele who are vegetarians.
The Restaurant is situated in the calm suburbs of the Marine Drive in Colombo. A renowned restaurant chain established in several cities such as Madras, Chennai and Bangalore in India, and also outlets in Singapore and Malaysia, it provides the opportunity to savour Indian cuisine.
The Sri Lankan outlet was first established in Havelock Town and later relocated at Melbourne Avenue in Marine Drive. Mathura, has catered to its clientele for the past 18 years in Sri Lanka, while its newest branch is located in the busy hub of Battaramulla with an arty outlook in the outlet. “There is a great need for a take away outlet in Parliament Grounds for the families to enjoy a chilled out day during the weekends”, Mathura Madras Woodlands (Pvt) Ltd General Manager Ramalee Adjumain said.
“If you wish to experience true Indian cuisine, Mathura is the place to try out. The chefs of the Restaurant are Indian, as well as most of the waiters. We have outsourced help as we want to create a true Indian ambience in hospitality as well,” he said.
The Marine Drive outlet is managed by Dinesh Babu who has worked in Mathura for 16 years. This Restaurant chain specializes in South Indian and North Indian food.
“The Restaurant will offer set menu dinner on 31st Night and set menu lunch on Christmas day to celebrate the festive occasions. The specialty of Mathura is the Paper dosai and the complimentary side dishes of the red coconut blended sambol which enhances the taste of the dosai. The Paneer Butter Masala is the best curry in the Restaurant which is a perfect combination to enjoy Naan and Parata. The Dham Biriyani which is a special delicacy made by Indian chefs is delicious,” he said.
Mathura also caters to parties, weddings and private functions. The Marine Drive outlet has three private dining rooms which can hold a maximum of 30 people.
