NICs for school candidates

29 October, 2017

Many government school candidates in the NWP are reported to have faced much inconvenience in the past few years, as school heads had been indifferent and negligent in obtaining NICs for the students who had to sit the G.C.E.(O.L.) and (A.L.) Examinations. Commissioner General of Registration of Persons, Viyani Gunathilake, has already sent special circulars to all school heads countrywide instructing to send the applications of school candidates for NICs on or before October, 31 2017 to avoid difficulties faced by both students and their parents.

About 880 school candidates are reported to have undergone problems due to the inability of establishing their identity at the Examination centres countrywide last year. It was due to the irresponsibility on the part of school heads, said W.M.Balasooriya, senior Director of Education, Kurunegala, speaking at a meeting of school heads of the Kurunegala District held Wednesday (25) at the Youth Training Centre, Bingiriya.
