St.Anthony’s Katugasthota a major force

A school which has been a major force in school cricket is St. Anthony’s College, Kandy. They have not only produced several champion teams but have also produced some of the finest cricketers who have done the country proud by their achievements.

The Trinitians started the season with a loss to St. Sebastian’s College Katuneriya and later won three games. This season St. Anthony’s field a balanced side. The team consists of six new players brought in from outstation schools from Monegarala MV, Sri Sumangala College Wariyapola and Chandrananda Budhist College, Kandy. These new comers have helped them

win few matches with their brilliant performances. The victories were recorded under the captaincy of Janidu Himsara. They are yet to appoint a permanent skipper. Theekshana Gunasinghe was the deputy to Himsara to date.

Sampath Perera is in charge of the team as the coach this season. Lenin Jayasinghe is the MIC.

Janidu Himsara has captained the matches played up-to-date. He has played a better role as a solid contributor rather than a fire-breathing fast bowler. Theeksha Gunasinghe is expected to do well as an allrounder.

Suners Jayasinghe a top opener made vital runs last season, Kalhara Senaratne a superb batsman scored 119 not out and captured 7 wickets conceding only 53 runs which helped them beat Kingswood College, Others in the squad are Mohamed Absar Tamashana Abeykoon, Dion Stouter, Satish Wickramarachchi, Gihan Ebert, Mohomed Kamil, Gihan Achintha, Navodya

Wijethunga, Sasith Hirundika, Nimnaka Jayathilleka, Pramuditha Panditharathna, Gayan Avishka, Tharindu Lamahewage, Mohomed Rukshan and Dayan Pankaj.
