International Children’s Day

15 October, 2017

International Children’s Day was declared in 1954 by the United Nations Organization, to encourage brotherhood and understanding among children, and also to promote their welfare. The main aim of celebrating children’s day is to protect them from child abuse. Many children are abused and harassed and even used for labour. Illegal child trafficking where innocent children are sold to buyers for slavery is rampant. In Sri Lanka, we celebrate Children’s Day on the 1st of October. We must protect children from abuse and neglect.
