The 95th National Athletics Champioship was concluded yesterday at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium in Diyagama. The meet which was contested by athletes from all parts of the country saw three new Sri Lanka record lowered at this meet.
J Anitha from Jaffna Athletic Association who holds the Sri Lanka record for the women’s Pole Vault yester went further ahead clearing a height of 3. 47 meters improving her own record.
. During the three days of competition most of the meet records were established by women athletes. Altogether eight new meet records were set during the three days.
A.L.A.L Ratnasena of Sri Lnka Air force was awarded the Duncan White Challenge Trophy for his best achievement in the Men’s 400m Hurdle clocking 51.05 seconds.
Former National Champion High Jumper Manjula Kumara also from Sri Lanka Air Force received the Anthony Abeysinghe Challenge Trophy for achievement of 2.21m.
