Fellow Lankans - be aware
Day in and day out the world sinks
Deeper into a state,
humanity fails to think
Daily movies,
television and the media
show man’s failure to respect
the universal idea
Man’s widespread disobedience
reflects his enormous decadence
Due to rise in greed for wealth
Callous disregard for better health
Failure to observe the five precepts
which uphold the sacred
Buddhist concept
The colossal damage caused
to mother nature
An irreparable loss
becoming a seasonal feature
When man overrun by
anger and hate
unable to bear the unimaginable waste
No wonder in fury the mother earth
Gives back to mankind her wrath
In the form of floods,
landslides and drought
From which the helpless suffered throughout
Also a chain of disasters,
furthermore
Causing damage never seen
or heard before
The country has plunged
into so called Dengue
The most dreadful bringing sorrow
and misery
Adhering to natural laws of Kamma
Be aware of the universal law of Dhamma
If we diligently apply to doctrine,
being wise
Then surely in our lives peace
and happiness will arise
