The platform of the Thummodara railway station on the Colombo-Puttlam railway line needs extensive repairs. Much inconvenience is caused to daily railway commuters due to the many pot holes and parts of the platform being damaged due to the long over due repairs. The station situated between Nathandiya and Lunuwila Stations, was built in 1969.
