Heidi is a novel written by the Swiss author Johanna Spyri. It was first published in the German language in 1881 and translated into English in 1956. The story is about an orphaned girl named Heidi who is sent to live with her grandfather in the Alps. Everyone in the Alps was afraid of Heidi’s grandfather’s looks. Why I like this book is because Heidi is a brave, helpful and sensible girl. My favourite character in the book is Heidi. The novel was made into a film with Shirley Temple in Heidi’s role.
