
The Culinary Art Food Expo 2017 organized by the Chefs’ Guild of Sri Lanka will be held for the 17th consecutive year, from July 28-30 at the BMICH, Colombo. Around 1,700 chefs from 165 hotels will showcase their talents at the Food Processing Contest.
The CDC Events & Travels, a professional event - organizing body has extended its patronage to make the event a success.
This is going to be the biggest Food Exhibition in Asia, according to the Sri Lanka Chefs’ Association, a member of the World Chefs’ Organisation and a representative of 110 countries in the world.
The event will help local chefs to display their skills to their international counterparts and become winners in food processing art. The exhibition consists of Food Processing contests, hospitality services and a food division.
In addition, hotels representing India and Dubai and members of the Maldives Chefs’ Association will participate as contestants.
Food plates – a complete meal and a variety of short eats will be presented at the group and individual Food contests. Wedding cake structures, butter carving, bread decorations will feature in the contest, which will be supervised by 31 reputed Chefs of the World Chefs’ Association.
The grand exhibition will be a forum for business opportunities, exchange of knowledge and establishing relations.
The competition, which started in 1988, has grown to be a grand event in the hospitality industry, along with the many developments within the industry. Youngsters in the industry are keen to take part in this annual competition which gives them the opportunity to bring out their skills.
“It is certainly a big opportunity for youngsters and hoteliers,” a spokesperson said.
