President Maithripala Sirisena presents books and bags to students. Auxiliary Bishop of Colombo Emmanuel Fernando, Minister John Amaratunga and Dinesh Weerakkody are also in the picture.
President Maithripala Sirisena said, education is an important tool for the future of the country and to build a complete man. He said, all investments as well as contributions to the education of children, are a great service towards the future of the country.
He made these remarks addressing a ceremony organized to grant scholarships to children of low-income families, held at the President’s House recently.
These scholarships were presented to 500 children under the sponsorship of the Dinesh Weerakkody Foundation.
