The newly elected president said that the task of holding the top football post in the country is not a bed of roses but a challenging one. We have four years of hard work to prove ourselves and a lot of work to be done to uplift the standard of football . The Minister of Sports Dayasiri Jayasekera has promised to allocate funds for the development of football.

The losing candidate Ranjith Rodrigo said that he did not allocate funds to the leagues and money to purchase jersey’s and did not give big hopes, but only promised to develop the game and win matches. He further said that he did not get the votes from the north and the east which was the main reason for him to lose.
