The Ministry of Education has issued an amended circular for admitting Grade One students to government schools countrywide from next year and parents and guardians of these students have to submit their applications to school heads by registered post on or before the 30th of this month.
Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam told the Sunday Observer on Thursday, that tough legal measures and disciplinary steps would be taken against government school heads and Grama Niladharies if they commit any frauds or issue bogus certificates to parents and guardians of children to help them admit children to popular and leading schools.
