Blood banks in the flood-hit areas of Galle, Ratnapura, Matara, Hambantota and Kamburugamuwa have run short of blood. Blood donation campaigns too cannot be held in view of the disaster situation.
The National Blood Centre, Colombo appeals to those below 55 years willing to contribute to this worthy cause to call over at the National Blood Centre, Narahenpita, Colombo between 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. Small groups of donors could be arranged transport facilities.
A blood donation camp could also be organised where there are 50-100 donors, the National Blood Centre sources said.
