House of ill-repute raided

The Mount Lavinia Anti Corruption unit raided a brothel located on Watarappala Road, Mount Lavinia on Friday. According to the Police the brothel had been operating under the guise of an Ayurvedic Massage Center the Police said.

The officers arrested one individual under the suspicion of managing the premises while another female suspect was arrested. Police suspect the woman had engaged in prostitution.

Those arrested have been identified as resident of Avissawella and Divuldeniya. Anti Corruption unit are carrying out further investigations into the incident.

Three bank robbers arrested

Three individuals suspected to have robbed a finance institution in Tissamaharama on 3, April has been nabbed by the Tangalle Division Crimes Investigation division.

One arrest was made on Friday in the Molkapuppathana area the Police said adding that two other suspects were arrested thereafter in Kudaoya through information received.

The trio had robbed over Rs. 700,000 from the establishment having threatened an employee of the company, the Police said. According to the Police the suspects are said to be 22, 37 and 39-year-old residents of Tissamaharama and Kuda Oya.
