
The Annual Amadahara Vesak Zone organized by Lake House in concurrence with International Vesak Week will showcase an array of programs. The highlight of the Vesak Zone this year will be the instrumental rendition of devotional songs by the percussion bands of the Army, Navy and the Police. Bakthi Gee rendition will be conducted from May 10-13 from 7.30 p.m. till 10.30 p.m. The Navy percussion band will launch the event on the May 10 under the patronage of the Minister of Media and Parliamentary Reforms, Gayantha Karunathilake.
The Sri Lanka Navy will perform on the May 11 with the participation of Deputy Minister of Media, Karunarathne Paranavithana as the chief guest. Awarding of prizes and certificates to 15 winners of the essay competition held in connection with Vesak Week, will take place on May 10 and 11. The Police percussion band will take the stage on May 12 and the chief guest will be Minister of Law and Order and Southern Development and Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff Sagala Ratnayake.
The Army percussion band will perform on the 13th at which the Defence Minister Ruwan Wijewardena will grace the occasion. The winners of the essay competition held for the second age group will be given prizes and certificates on the same day (May 13). The essay competition is sponsored by the Young Men’s Buddhist Association.
