
The National Scouts Award Ceremony was held at the Nalum Pokuna Theatre under the patronage of Chief Scout, President Maithripala Sirisena recently. The theme of the event was to appreciate and encourage nationally those who had sacrificed themselves for the uplift of the Scouts Association. Twenty of them were bestowed ‘Silver Lions’ award by the President. In addition, the 160th birth anniversary of Lord Baden Powel, the architect of World Scouts Movement was commemorate.
Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Chief Scouts Commissioner, Prof. Nimal de Silva, Sri Lanka Scouts Association President Sri Nath Gunawardene and several other participated.
