Former Wesley College all-rounder Sadeem Thawfeeq made a memorable debut for Virtusa Polaris in the Mercantile cricket tournament when he scored an unbeaten 109 off 101 balls (17 fours, 1 six) in their 64-run win over HSBC ‘A’ in a ‘E’ division first round match played at Campbell Park on Sunday.
Put into bat first Virtusa Polaris ran up an impressive score of 206-6 off 30 overs with Sadeem and Udesh Sendanayake (44) sharing a third wicket partnership of 109 off 90 balls. Supun Subasinghe was HSBC’s chief wicket-taker with 4 for 26. HSBC in reply were restricted to 142-8 off their quota of overs.
