Heralding a new future for the plantation sector community, President Maithripala Sirisena opened the Hutvilpura housing project consisting of 150 houses at Hutvil Estate in Agarapathana, Nuwara Eliya to take the plantation community out of the traditional line rooms. This village comprises 150 new houses, built under the concept of ‘New Village for Upcountry - Our Own Land and Our Own House’ to build single houses in the estates to replace line rooms.
