Engineers’ Society promotes innovation

The Private Sector Engineers’ Society (PSES) held a public lecture on the use of Finite Element methods by Senior Design Engineer Priyantha Siriwardana at the Plastic and Rubber Research Institute (PRI) Rajagiriya.

Siriwardana has 17 years of experience in the field, including 15 years in advanced finite element modelling in a non-linear environment, using simulation technology, and work experience in the US and EU countries, is a product of the Peradeniya and Moratuwa Universities, and presently working in Canada.

The PSES which is spearheading a program to groom local engineers for innovation and product development in Sri Lanka, as part of national development, invited Eng. Priyantha Siriwardana to deliver this public lecture, and share this expert knowledge and work experience among the member of the society, invited guests and other interested people.

The lecturer developed this theme in a commendable manner, bringing out the best of his knowledge on the topic. The president of PSES, Ananda Devasinghe said the society would conduct public programs of this nature to demonstrate the contribution that engineers can and should make to inculcate the culture of engineering, deeper into the psyche of Sri Lankan society, taking the full advantage of advancing technology to develop the country.
