Police Post in dilapidated state

15 January, 2017

A Pilgrim’s camera lens recently captured these photographs of the Haramitipana Police Post on the Ratnapura-Palabaddala route to Sripada. The Police Post in the vicinity of the Makara Thorana remains in a seriously dilapidated state since the beginning of the Sripada season which commenced on Unduvap poya day in December. While nine policemen are expected to remain at the post on duty for six months the officers are facing severe hardships due to the existing weather, the poor condition and lack of facilities at the police post. According to sources, despite repeated complaints in this regard, a tussle between the Ratnapura and Hatton Police divisions has resulted in the post continuing to be in the sorry state it is seen in today. Other Police Posts along the route are also said to be in a similar condition.
