GCE Advanced Level Examination : Results of 243 candidates withheld

15 January, 2017

The Department of Examinations has withheld the results of 243 candidates who sat the GCE A/L Examination in August last year as they have committed frauds and malpractices at that examination. Another 80 candidates who sat for the same examination at centres away from their respective residential areas too would have to face bitter repercussions for violating the rules and regulations of the Examinations Department. All school heads of the Kurunegala and Puttalam districts of the NWP should not leave room in the future for students to violate rules laid down by the Department of Examinations, Senior Director of Education of the NWP, W.M. Balasooriya told a conference of school principals of the NWP on Tuesday at the Kurunegala Regional Education Office.

In 2015 too, the results of 293 candidates who sat for the GCE Advanced Level examination were withheld as they had sat for the examination in the Puttalam district although they were residents of other districts.

“The parents of the 293 candidates and school heads who supported that illegal activity have to undergo legal punishment and measures have been taken to sue them,” Balasooriya said.
