The community at S. Thomas’ Preparatory School, Kollupitiya consisting of boys, teachers, parents, old boys and well wishers will meet on Saturday, January 28, in an effort to strengthen their bonds of camaraderie with a walk and fun together.
The basic idea of this exercise is to collect funds to renovate, “Fortrose”, the first building put up when the school was first started in 1938.
It was also the home to all those who became hostellers in the School.
“Prep School” which we fondly call ourselves is unique as it has stood out as a closely knit family catering to all communities and traditions to enable each and every child to stand on his own feet, blossom and reach great heights.
Our uniqueness is such that when everyone around us is expanding we are deliberately keeping ourselves small in order to ensure quality. We are not intimidated by mere size but by stature.
The walk is meant to be a ‘walk together’ and show our oneness and what we have grown to be and what we are capable of. Galle Face, the popular hangout for people of all walks of life will be the spot where launch our walk.
We will walk past the School along the Galle road to Kollupitiya junction and then proceed along the Dharmapala Mawatha and turn left at, what is called the ‘Piththala Junction’ and move along James Peiris Mawatha to the final stretch along Perahera Mawatha through Rotunda Gardens to our Home by the roaring billows.
The evening is full of fun and frolic and around 3000 are expected to experience the togetherness while reveling in rides, food and music till midnight.
The Parent-Teacher Association and the Old Boys’ Union have planned this unforgettable event for every single person to experience the unique Prep culture of celebrating diversity while holding on to common ideals.
The dawn of January 28 will indeed be the red letter day on which the Prepites set foot on a mission to uphold their legacy.
Walk with us, it’s a step in the right direction.
May the Prep School be a beacon of light glowing with profundity amidst the twinkling lights in a city where the skyline changes daily.
