A Singing Christmas Tree

25 December, 2016

In a scenario of twinkling coloured lights, the Mount Lavinia Hotel courtyard came alive with well wishers’ chatter and laughter awaiting the lighting of the Christmas Tree on December 16.

The four religious dignitaries opening the event.

And when it came, the guests were too taken aback with amazement.

The four religious dignitaries officially cut the ceremonial ribbon to open the event. The unique Singing Christmas Tree was a big wonder in itself. The choir of St. Joseph’s College, conducted by Akash Perera took the guests through all the popular carols Silent Night, O Holy Night, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and also the popular songs like Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer, Jingle Bells, Have Yourself a Merry Christmas and Felice Navidad.

Speaking to the conductor of the choir Akash Perera who was substituting for Mr. Almeida, he said, he was happy working with the choir and that they were keen that the opening night will hold memories for all the guests.
