Three robbery suspects arrested
The Police have nabbed three suspects in connection to a robbery in Pannipitiya area. The suspects had allegedly tied up members of the household prior to robbing the house of its valuables along with Rs. 2 million.
The Police have recovered two cars, gold amounting to 161 grams, four gold chains, a gold ring and several other items from the suspects. According to the Police the suspects aged 32, 36, 38 are residents of Tangalle and Ratnapura. Athurugiriya Police are carrying out further investigations into the incident.
Heroin seized in Maharagama
The Police nabbed one female suspect in Arawwala for the possession of 2.5 grams of heroin on a tip off received.
The 40 year old resident of Maharagama was presented to the Gangodawila Magistrate Courts.
One killed in private bus accident
A motorcyclist died when he was run over by a private bus in Katupotha, Kadahapola. The bus plying towards Rambawewa had struck down 62-year-old Rankotha Pedige Jayaratne, a resident of Kanaththewewa.
The seriously injured victim later succumbed to his injuries after being admitted to Kurunegala Base Hospital.
Police have arrested the driver of the private bus in connection with the accident.
