The foundation stone for the tallest Buddha statue in the city of Colombo will be laid at the auspicious time, 9.21 a.m. on Thursday, Nov.24. The 29-ft tall cast image of the Buddha to be erected at the Sri Abhayabodhirajaramaya, Suduwella, Maradana, is expected to cost around Rs. 2.9 million which will be funded by the public and the business community, supervised by ex-CMC member, Kithsiri Rajapaksa. The sculptor Rangabuddha of Wattala has undertaken the project.
