Student community empowered with digital technology

Empowerment of school student ICT societies were implemented at district levels under the direction of the Minister of Education. The project aims at the use of information technology for other subjects and also use it for extra and co-curricular activities in the campaign to create a Sri Lanka empowered with digital technology. The eighth and ninth programs of this project were conducted recently targeting the Monaragala and Badulla districts in the Uva Province.

The program is implemented by the ICT branch of the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Sri Lanka ICT Agency that comes under the Ministry of Telecommunication and Digital Infrastructure. At the workshop topics such as providing experiences in Virtual Reality, activating Education Apps using tabs and mobile phones, improvement and maintenance of the information and communication technology societies in schools using the SWOT Analysis, career guidance and entrepreneurship were taken up. The resource persons were Project Assistant, Sri Lanka ICT Agency, Thilina Disanayaka, Project Officer, Kasun Tharaka and Assistant Director of Education, Information and Communication Technology branch of the Ministry of Education, H.P. Rukmalee.
