William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire, England on 26 April 1564. He was an English poet, playwright and actor. He is the world’s most famous playwright and is known as England’s national poet. His work consists of 38 plays, 154 sonnets and two long narrative poems. His plays have been translated into many languages. Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway who bore him three children – Susanna and the twins Judith and Hamnet. He passed away on 23 April 1616. But Shakespeare’s legacy continues.
