Last Saturday, early in the morning my parents and I started the journey to Sri Pada.
On the way, we had our breakfast under trees. Surrounding the area was a very beautiful range of mountains. It was cold there.
We started our journey again. It was a beautiful view when we reached Sri Pada.
Then we went to see thr Laxapana power plant. It was amazing. Then we visited the Aberdeen waterfall. We went through a forest. We climbed down and down and finally, we saw the waterfall.
We had our lunch near some spring water pipes. We had ambul thiyal
(a sour fish curry}, polos and fried chilli for lunch.
Then we started our journey to Sri Pada. We saw a range of mountains. It was evening when we reached Sri Pada. We put on our sweaters, coats and gloves. Then we started to climb Sri Pada, the holy mountain. .
When we had climbed about half way of the mountain, I felt faint because there were crowds of people.
I heard some stanzas. People chanted them together and I joined them. I still remember them.
“Naginna Yana Me Nadeta
Sumana Saman Devi Pihitai.”
I was very tired when we reached Mahagiri Dabaya. We watched how the sun rises at Ahasgauwa. It is an important thing when we climb Sri Pada. When we reached the Udamaluwa it was about 7.00 a.m. It was amazing. I could see clouds below us. A range of mountains had been hidden through the mist. My mom, dad and I worshiped the footprint of the Buddha. Then I rang the bell only once but my dad rang it twice. It was an unforgettable journey.
I invite you all to visit Sri Pada.
