Farewell to a cricketing legend

20 March, 2022

There are certain players in the world who have brought us the true spirit of sports. One of t them is Shane Warne. He was born in 1969. He is a former Australian cricketer who played from 1992 to 2007.

He has played 145 test matches and 194 ODIs. Warne is a right arm leg spinner. He and Muttiah Muralitharan are considered as the two greatest spinners in cricket history. Warne is considered as the greatest leg spinner of all time.

Warne’s leg spinners were horrible experiences for batsmen as the ball turned wonderfully as they lost their wicket. Warne ended his career grabbing 1001 international wickets and ended as the second highest international wicket taker. He is the first bowler to take 700 test wickets, which is a very rare milestone to achieve.

Warne is a friend of many former Sri Lankan cricketers and once he donated money to reconstruct the Galle Cricket Ground after the tsunami. He loved that ground since it was the venue where he took his 500th test wicket.

After retirement, he was not done with cricket as he served cricket as a commentator. After entertaining cricket fans for years, Shane Warne ended his life’s journey on March 4, during his tour in Thailand due to a heart attack .

Many people around the world were shocked to hear that sad news.

The name ‘Shane Warne’ will always be there in the hearts of cricket fans.
