Beatrix Potter
Helen Beatrix Potter is a British author, illustrator, mycologist and conservationist. However, she is most famous for her children’s stories based on animal characters like Peter Rabbit, Benjamin Bunny, the three Flopsy Bunnies named Flopsy, Mopsy and Cotton Tail and Jemima Puddle Duck.
Her very realistic and beautifully done illustrations lend much colour to her charming stories. 
Beatrix Potter was born on July 28, 1866 in Kensington, London. Her family was wealthy and their wealth came from cotton. Young Beatrix was educated at home by Governesses.
As a girl, Beatrix did not have many friends but she had many pets oncluding two rabbits, Peter and Benjamin.
Beatrix spent her holidays in Scotland and the beautiful English Lake District.
It was during these holidays that Beatrix’s love of nature, plants and animals was born. She did meticulous paintings of them.
When she was around 27, she sent an illustrated letter to a former Governess’s sick child. The illustrations featured bunnies, Flopsy, Mopsy, Cotton tail and Peter.
This letter was so well received that Beatrix Potter decided to publish it privately as The Tale of Peter Rabbit in 1901. Peter Rabbit’s character was based on her own pet, Peter. In 1902, it was published commercially by Frederick Warne and Company which subsequently brought out a series of books by her.
Potter loved the countryside and one of her homes was Hill Top Farm, in in the village of Sawrey, Lake District. She bought this with the money she received for her books and spent much time alone here.
Then, later life, Beatrix Potter married a solicitor, William Heelis.
Beatrix Potter died on December 22, 1943.
The Tale of Peter Rabbit
This is the first book by Beatrix Potter and the character of Peter rabbit is based on her pet rabbit, Peter.
In this story Peter Rabbit lives in a sandbank under a fir tree with his mother Mrs. Rabbit and sisters Flopsy,Mopsy and Cotton Tail.
One day, Mrs Rabbit goes to the bakery but before leaving she tells the children they can play in the fields and go down the lane but never to go into Mr. McGregor’s garden for their father went there and had an accident. He was put n a pie by Mrs. McGregor.
Flopsy, Mopsy and Cotton tail were obedient, little bunnies and they went blackberry picking down the lane.
Naughty Peter rabbit went to McGregor’ garden and ate his fill of lettuce, French beans and radishes. He then wanted to go home but couldn’t remember the way out of the garden.
He gets spotted by Mr. Mcgregor who starts to chase him. Peter has a terrifying time.

The Tale of Mrs. Tiggy Winkle
Have you ever heard of a hedgehog washerwoman? Well, Mrs. Tiggy Winkle was one and she lives in the magical world of Beatrix Potter.
She has her home inside a hill and she is short and very stout and has prickles under her cap instead of hair like us. Her nose goes sniffle.sniffle and her eyes twinkle. She is an excellent clear startcher she says.
Little Lucie of Little Town who is always losing her handkerchiefs discovers Mrs Tiggy Winkle and her home when she goes in search of her hankies.

The Tailor of Gloucester
The Tailor of Gloucester lived in an era when gentlemen wore full skirted coats with flowered lappets and gold laced waistcoats of paduasoy.
Though he sewed for the rich the tailor of Gloucester was very poor.
The tailor lived in a rented kitchen with his cat Simpkin.One day, the tailor gave his last four pence to Simpkin to buy bread, milk, sausages and a twist of cherry silk which he needed for the clothes he was making for the Mayor of Gloucester’s wedding.
