A one-day awareness program on ‘How to have a peaceful parliamentary election’ was held at the Iqbal Community Centre Hall in Kalmunai recently. It was organised by the Truth and Reconciliation Peoples Forum of the Ampara district.
The District Organiser of the organisation, M.S. Jaleel was instrumental in organising the workshop, co-ordinated by its administrative member Dr. S.L. Azees.
The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka Kalmunai Regional Office Commissioner Issadeen Latheef and the Peace for Community Action (PCA) Ampara district Co-ordinator D. Rajendren were the chief resource persons.
Participants were empowered on how to contribute to a peaceful election. The factors that cause conflict were also discussed in detail.
