Lobsters have faced the threat of extinction along the coastal belt, senior citizens in Hambantota said.
They said that it has been prohibited to catch, have in possession and sell lobsters with eggs since a lobster bears about 1,000 eggs at a time.
But some fishermen catch them seeking a good income. It has also being prohibited to catch small lobsters, they said.
