The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) has decided to halt training programs at vocational training institutes under its purview, considering the threat of coronavirus in the country. This will be effect until March 31.The Bureau has informed the trainees who are at boarding places to return home. All technical colleges and vocational training institutes under the purview of the Vocational Training Authority (VTA), Ceylon - German Technical Training Institute (CGTTI), National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA) and Department of Technical Education and Training will also remain closed during the period.
National educational institutes and teacher training colleges across the island will also be closed from March 16 till March 29, due to the prevailing situation, the Ministry of Education sources said.
