Universal Children’s Day

27 October, 2019

Universal Children’s Day was named in 1954 by the United Nations Organisation. This day was celebrated to encourage brotherhood and understanding among children and to promote their welfare. Each country was given the freedom to choose an appropriate day. Countries all over the world organise special events for children on this day. Sri Lanka celebrates Children’s Day on October 1 every year.
