My country

25 August, 2019

My motherland is Sri Lanka. It is an island surrounded by the Indian Ocean and is known as the ‘Pearl of the Indian Ocean’. There are many attractive historical places in my country. Though it is very small, it has many attractions, such as Sigiriya Rock, the Anuradhapura Historical Kingdom, Galle Fort, Hikkaduwa Coral Reefs, Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage, the Temple of the Tooth Relic and attractive beaches at Nilaweli, Pasikuda and Hikkaduwa.

There are many communities in our country, such as Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims and Burghers and different religions, such as Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity and Islam. Though there are many religions in our country the people are unique and live peacefully. Sri Lanka is famous for the hospitality of its people. I am proud to be a Sri Lankan. I love my country very much and it is my duty to protect it.
