Sigiriya is one of the most important historical places in Sri Lanka. It is a rock fortress built on top of a mountain. It is situated in the Matale district. According to history, it was built by King Kashyapa, to escape from his brother King Mugalan after he killed his father King Dathusena.There are many important things to see in Sigiriya, such as the frescoes, mirror walls and the lion’s mouth. Locals and foreigners visit Sigiriya. It is one of the world’s famous wonders. We must protect this important historical place.
