The elephant is the largest animal on land. Elephants live in Sri Lanka, India, Africa and in a few countries in South East Asia. The colour of the elephant’s body is dark grey. It has a wonderful organ called the trunk. It is used as a hand and a nose. It feeds on grass, leaves and the pith of kitul trunks. It is an intelligent animal.
The elephant is used to haul and lift heavy logs. Specially trained elephants are taken in processions.
