Poson Poya

17 February, 2019

Poson Poya is observed by Buddhists in the month of June. It is a colourful festival. We go to the temple and offer flowers to the Buddha and light oil lamps. Buddhists give alms and there are dansals. We make thoranas and lanterns and decorate houses and towns. We can also watch the Mihindu Perahera. We observe Sil and do good deeds. It is an important festival for Buddhists which is celebrated to commemorate the Mahindagamanaya.
