Sigiriya is one of the most important historical places in Sri Lanka. It is a rock fortress built on top of a mountain. It is situated in the Matale district. According to historical records, Sigiriya was built by King Kashyapa. He built it to escape from his brother Mugalan as he had killed their father, King Dathusena.
The frescoes, mirror wall and landscape are some of the most important features of this historical place. Both local and foreign tourists visit Sigiriya. It is the duty of Sri Lankans to protect Sigiriya.
