Ananda Kentish Coomaraswamy was born in Colombo, Ceylon on 22nd August 1877. His father was Muthu Coomaraswamy and his mother was Elizabeth Beeby. He attended Wycliffe College in Gloucestershire and entered University College, London. Later he worked in Sri Lanka as a Geologist. He has written more than 30 books on different subjects. He died in 1947 at the age of 70.
