The Pinnawala elephant orphanage is in Kegalle district in the Sabaragamuwa Province. The orphanage was set up to safeguard and care for abandoned and orphaned elephants. The elephants are bathed and fed. The best time to visit the orphanage is at meal times and bathing time.
