Woman struck by lightning killed
A 25-year-old woman was struck by lightning in the Hiniduma area on Friday. According to the Police, the woman was struck by lightning inside her house in Halvitigala, Galle. She was declared dead on arrival at the Hiniduma Hospital, the Police said.
The victim has been identified as Asmigoda Pathiranage Nisansala. Hiniduma Police are investigating.
Foreigners arrested with illicit cigarettes
Two Chinese nationals were arrested by the Colpetty Police for possessing illicit cigarettes.
The men were arrested on Friday by the Police near Dickman’s Road.
The duo had a haul of 43, 800 illicit cigarettes at the time of arrest.
Teen killed in head-on collision
A 16-year-old died when the motorcycle he was travelling in collided with a lorry travelling in the opposite direction on the Kekirawa - Eppawala road on Friday.
According to the Police, the teen had lost control of the vehicle resulting in the fatal crash.
He had later succumbed to his injuries after being admitted to the Kekirawa hospital.
The victim has been identified as Chamal Gimhan, a resident of Hapitigama.
