Three people were killed and another three were seriously injured after a car collided with a bus in Thelulla on the Thanamalwila - Wellawaya road yesterday morning.
According to the Police, the driver of the car had lost control of the vehicle which had veered across the main road and collided head-on with a Sri Lankan Transport Board (SLTB) bus travelling in the opposite direction towards the Thanamalwila town.
According to the Police there had been six male passengers aged between 30 - 40 years at the time of the accident.
“The driver and two other passengers in the car were declared dead after being admitted to the Thanamalwila divisional hospital,” Police Spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara said adding that three other passengers were transferred to the Hambantota General Hospital for further treatment. Two female passengers of the bus who sustained minor injuries are currently receiving treatment at the Thmanamila Hospital the Police said.
