
The New Peacock Estate PF1 Grade obtained an all-time record price of Rs.1,600 per kg at the Colombo Tea auctions held on April 20.
The New Peacock Estate belongs to Elpitiya Plantations Plc, and is managed by Aitken Spence Plantation. This factory has been developed to a state-of-the-art Tea Processing Centre, complete with a new, fully automated second CTC line at a cost of Rs.75 million last year, to manufacture one million kilos of CTC teas per annum.
New Peacock Factory is certified under ISO 22000:2018 for food quality standards and has obtained the Rainforest Alliance certificate. This estate is a pioneer in growing raspberry, blueberry and blackberry in Sri Lanka, which is another initiative of Aitken Spence Plantations.
This tea was purchased by Uniworld Teas and was sold through the catalogues of Lanka Commodity Brokers Ltd.
Kalubowitiayana Tea factory

At the Colombo Tea Auctions held on April 20, Kalubowitiyana Tea Factory fetched an all-time record price Rs.1,850 per kg. This factory is located in the Deniyaya district and comes under the purview of the Ministry of Plantation Industries. This factory produces Premium Quality CTC teas.
This tea was purchased by Ceylon Tea Plantation Exports and was sold through the catalogues of Lanka Commodity Brokers Ltd.
Mooloya Estate
An all-time record price of Rs.1,480 per kg was realised by Mooloya Estate, Hewaheta at the Colombo Tea auctions held on April 20. This surpasses the previous record price of Rs.1,120 per kg. held on April 6, 2022. Mooloya Estate manufactures one of the finest teas in the district and is a Rainforest Alliance certified factory. This estate is managed by Pussallawa Plantations which is owned by the Damro Group of Companies.
This tea was purchased by Uniworld Teas and was sold through the catalogues of M/S Lanka Commodity Brokers Ltd
Delmar tea estate
Delmar Estate established two all-time record prices in the Udapussellawa Region at the tea auctions held on April 19-20 and demonstrates their ability to continuously maintain high quality Ceylon Tea standards.
The record prices were BOPS grade recorded a price of Rs 1,420 per kg and BOP1 grade recorded a price of Rs 1,950 per kg.
Delmar Estate is managed by Udapussellawa Plantations PLC which is owned by Browns Plantations Plc.
This tea was sold through the catalogues of Lanka Commodity Brokers Ltd.
Hatale tea factory
Hatale Tea Factory established two all-time record prices and three top prices at the auctions held on April 19-20.
The record prices were BOPSp Rs 1,750, Pekoe 1 price of Rs. 1,950. The top prices were FBOP 1 Rs 2,150, FBOPF 1 Rs 1,950 and OP/OPA Rs. 1,700.
This tea was sold through the catalogues of Lanka Commodity Brokers Ltd.

At this week’s Tea Auction held on April 20 an invoice of BOP1A Grade from New Hopewell factory,
Balangoda secured an all-time Colombo Tea Auction Record price of Rs. 1,600 per kg in the Lowgrown Category. This tea was purchased by Vintage Teas (Pvt) Ltd, a leading buyer of all regional teas and was sold through the catalogue of Lanka Commodity Brokers Ltd. This factory is managed by Senhora Group.
Hidellana tea factory
At the tea auction held on April 19, 2022 an invoice of BOP Grade from Hidellana Tea factory, Ratnapura secured an all-time Colombo Tea auction Record price of Rs. 2,150 per kg in the low grown category. This tea was purchased by Shan Teas and was sold through the catalogue of Lanka Commodity Brokers.
Uva Halpewatta
At the tea auction held on April 20-21, an invoice of BP Grade from Uva Halpewatta Estate, Bandarawela, secured an all-time Colombo Tea Auction record price of Rs. 1,600 per kg in the Uva Medium Category.
This tea was purchased by Akbar Brothers and was sold through the catalogue of Lanka Commodity Brokers.
Sithaka tea factory
At this week’s tea auction held on April 19, an invoice of BOPF Grade from Sithaka Tea factory, Avissawella secured an all time Colombo Tea Auction record price of Rs. 2,050 per kg in the Low grown category.
This tea was purchased by Jafferjee Brothers and was sold through the catalogue of Lanka Commodity Brokers.
Strathdon tea factory
At this week’s Tea Auction held on April 20, 2022 an invoice of PF Grade from Strathdon Tea factory, Hatton secures an All Time Colombo Tea Auction Record price of Rs. 1,060 per kg in the Western Medium Category. This tea was purchased by Uni Trades and was sold through the catalogue of Lanka Commodity Brokers Ltd.
This factory is managed by Hatton Plantations.
