‘One Nation, Many Colours’

26 March, 2017

The World University Service of Canada (WUSC) has organised an Art Exhibition to be held on March 29 and 30 from 9 am to 6 pm at the J.D.A. Perera Art Gallery, Colombo.

‘One Nation, Many Colours’, is a unique collection of art and stories by young Sri Lankan men and women from diverse socio-cultural and religious backgrounds from the Eastern and Southern Provinces. The exhibition, conceptualized by Canadian artist Paul Hogan in collaboration with local artists from the Butterfly Peace Garden and Garden Path, showcases the creative expression of young people as they explore and share self-discovery through meditative rituals, art making, and storytelling. The ‘Peace Puzzle’ project created a space for young trainees to nurture bonds of understanding and friendship that grow beyond the duration of the process itself. The main theme of this activity is learning to reconcile differences through images and stories. The students’ artists who took part in the event did so as part of the curriculum in their Technical and Vocational Training classes.
