The Lourdes Chapel in Tewatte, Ragama, an exact replica of the Chapel of Mary in Lourdes, France was solemnly blessed and opened to the public by His eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, the Archbishop of Colombo, recently.
Under the guidance of His eminence, this project including the chapel and the building in the premises were designed and co-ordinated by Rev.Fr. Darrel Coonghe, Director of Supuwath Arana, Seeduwa.
The entire project cost an estimated Rs. 50 million. However, due to the generous donation of Rohan de Silva, Chairman/Managing Director, McLarens Group, the project was duly completed.
Most Rev.Dr. Nicholas Marcus and Most Rev.Dr. Oswald Gomis, Archbishop Emeritus, Most Rev. Dr. Maxwell Silva, the Auxillary. Bishop of Colombo were in attendance.
