Accolades for RCSSL

27 August, 2023

The Royal Commonwealth Society, Sri Lanka (RCSSL) - a non-profit organisation in Sri Lanka has grown from strength to strength in recent times.

Dignitaries and globally accredited organisations have lauded RCSSL’s new approach to empowering the potential leaders of tomorrow and entrusting them with the authority of pushing for change.

Founded in 1868, the Royal Commonwealth Society is a worldwide network of individuals and organisations committed to improving the lives and prospects of Commonwealth citizens. RCSSL, set up under the auspices of the Royal Commonwealth Society, promotes and enshrines the same values of the modern Commonwealth. RCS Sri Lanka champions human rights, democracy, and sustainable development through its international networks and across all member states.

In 2023, the RCS SL was recognised by the Commonwealth Society in London, as one of the most active branches in Asia, fostering relationships among members, young people, and service to the community. An eye glasses donation camp was also organised in partnership with Manchester University distributing almost 5,000 eyeglasses to the most needy in Sri Lanka.

The RCS Youth Council is establishing a long-term partnership with Island Innovation, a global network dedicated to advancing innovation and driving sustainable change on islands, to coordinate a tree-planting campaign later this year.
