Do not take law in to own hands – Ven. Malwathu Asgiri Anunayaka Theras

11 July, 2023

Ven. Malwatu Asgiri Ubhaya Maha Vihara Anunayaka Theras stated that they do not approve of Buddhist people taking the law in to their own hands instead of supporting the measures taken by the respective Sects on ill-behaved Buddhist monks.

They also emphasised that there are many cases where Sangha Sabhas belonging to the respective sects have conducted investigations regarding monks engaged in undisciplined activities and even deprived the concerned monks of their religious privileges, but they also emphasize that it is a problem that they are not publicised in the media.

Malwatu Anunayaka Ven. Niyangoda Sri Wijitasiri Thera, Asgiri Anunayaka Ven. Vedaruve Upali Thera and Ven. Anamaduve Dhammadassi Thera has stated this.

Ven. Anunahimi Theras also said that the Buddhist people should understand intelligently that some propaganda carried out by social media is done with wrong objectives and if the public takes the law into their own hands impulsively over an incident, they will eventually be found guilty and be punished before the law.
