The government has approved Rs.4 billion to the Health Ministry for the repair of medical equipment that needs to be repaired in hospitals and for the purchase of necessary new medical equipment, Health Minister Dr. Keheliya Rambukwella said. The Minister was speaking at a public event in Thumpane. Government hospitals have 13 MRI machines and currently 11 machines are in working condition, says the Government Radiology Technologists Association. Accordingly MRI machines at Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, Apeksha Hospital and Kandy Teaching Hospital are to be repaired shortly.
