If Sri Lanka Cricket rejects the proposed hybrid concept for the Asia Cup 2023, the Pakistan Cricket Board has threatened not to host Sri Lanka for a two-Test series in June according to reports.

If reports are to be accepted, the Asia Cup will be hosted in two phases, with the first part taking place in Pakistan and the second half being played at a neutral venue.

India will notably only compete in the second half of the competition.

Sri Lanka, however, has some concerns with the PCB’s hybrid strategy for the Asia Cup.

According to several media reports the PCB is unhappy with Sri Lanka’s position and is considering boycotting the Test series if they reject the hybrid model suggested by the board.

Earlier, the PCB threatened to boycott the competition following speculation that the Asian Cricket Council had shifted the Asia Cup out of Pakistan.

However, there is a lot of ambiguity around the Asia Cup 2023 as neither the relevant bodies nor the ACC have made any official announcements.

It remains to be seen if the BCCI and PCB come to terms on the Asia Cup row.

The PCB has been very clear about their stance of boycotting the Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup if the venue of the Asia Cup 2023 is changed.

The BCCI at the same time has stood firm that they won’t send the India team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023.
